Synthesis and Characterization of Some Quaternized Styrene Monomers and Polymers

Abstract: Polymerized ionic liquids are macromolecules synthesized by polymerizing ionic liquid monomers, such as N-(4-vinyl benzyl)-(N,N-dimethylamino) pyridinium chloride, tetrafluoroborate or hexafluorophosphate and bis(trifluoromethane) sulfonamide. In this way new polystyrenes with an ionic liquid as side-chain were synthesized, and their properties were studied.
