“…This technique was also applied for CNT functionalization. [306][307][308][309][310][311] In a typical reaction, CNTs were dispersed in 1,2-dichlorobenzene. Under an argon atmosphere, 3-thiophenecarboxaldehyde was added to the mixture, followed by addition of a calculated amount of N-methylglycine extremely slowly.…”

“…After adding N-methylglycine, the reaction was left to continue for another 24 h before cooling, filtration, washing and drying. 307,310 The as-prepared functionalized CNTs are often used in surface polymerization 307,310 or are incorporated into a composite matrix. 309 The Prado's reaction functionalized CNTs with specific organic groups have particular applications.…”

“…Polymer‐fullerene solar cells with power conversion efficiencies (PCE) beyond 10% have been reported for small area devices . Efforts to boost the PCE of polymer solar cells include: i) improvement of light absorption by engineering the band gap of the active polymers; ii) improving exciton dissociation (by increasing the interface area between the donor and acceptor materials through the use of nanostructured materials in the active polymer matrix); and iii) improving the mobility in the semiconductor materials by incorporating carbon nanotubes and graphene in the active polymer matrix. In the poly(3‐hexylthiophene)‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (P3HT‐PCBM) bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cell, the electron mobility ( μ e ) in the electron transporting PCBM part of the BHJ matrix is much higher than the hole mobility ( μ h ) in the hole transporting polymer (P3HT) part of the BHJ solar cell matrix .…”

“…Prado's reaction, briefly the azomethine ylides 1, 3-dipolar cyclo-addition forming pyrrolidine rings, has been reported to be an interesting functionalization process on surface of carbonaceous materials [165][166][167][168].The formed pyrrolidine rings consist of two covalent C-C bonds belonging to the carbon surface, making this grafting based on the stable bonding of functional groups. This technique is also applied for CNTs functionalization [169][170][171][172][173][174]. In a typical reaction for instance, CNTs was dispersed in 1,2dichlorobenzene first.…”

“…Under argon atmosphere, 3-thiophenecarboxaldehyde was added to the mixture, followed by a calculated amount of N-methylglycine added little by little over 5 days. After finishing the adding of N-methylglycine, the reaction was left to continue for another 24 h before cooling, filtration, washing and drying [170,173].…”
