Synthesis and characterization of regioregular poly(3‐dodecyltellurophene)

Abstract: A new poly(3‐dodecyltellurophene) (P3DDTe) is synthesized through a Suzuki polymerization reaction, and optoelectronic properties of P3DDTe are described.

“…[34,35] In details, P3a with the longest side chain showed the first order lamellar diffractions with smaller angles compared with the other two polymers. Due to the rigid main chains, the solubility of tellurophene polymers is usually lower than its thiophene and selenophene analogues.…”

“…Thus, tellurophene-based homopolymers with different alkyl chains P3a, P3b and P3c were synthesized to investigate the influence of alkyl chains on the physicochemical properties. [34,35] In details, P3a with the longest side chain showed the first order lamellar diffractions with smaller angles compared with the other two polymers. Moreover, though the main side chains of P3b and P3c were at the same length, P3c exhibited larger lamellar spacing due to the branched side group, which restrained the side-chain interdigitation.…”

“…[31] Almost at the same time, Kang and colleagues independently reported the synthesis and characterization of P3DDTe. [32] Owing to the use of Suzuki polymerization, the head-to-tail regioregularity of the polymer chains can be increased. By using gel-permeation chromatography (GPC), the M n of P3DDTe has been determined to be 20 kDa, of which the polydispersity index is 2.4.…”
