Synthesis and characterization of reduced graphite oxide–polymer composites and their application in adsorption of lead

Abstract: Herein, we report the in-situ polymerization of 1,5-diaminonaphthalene (15DAN) and 1,4- diaminoanthraquinone (14DAA) on the surface of reduced graphite oxide (RGO). Synthesized RGO-P15DAN and RGO-P14DAA were characterized by FTIR, Raman, SEM, TGA and XRD. The adsorption capacity and adsorptivity of the synthesized composites were investigated by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) using 100ppm aqueous solution of Pb2+ ions. Further, we compared the results of the composites with those of poly 1,5-(diaminonaph… Show more

“…2b) exhibited type IV isotherms, as defined by IUPAC classification1617. A hysteresis loop of type H3 in RGO-Zr at the relative pressures [P/P o ] ranging from 0.45 to 1.00 indicated the possible presence of mesoporous structure1718.…”

“…2h) displayed two bands at 1343 and 1600 cm −1 , corresponding to the D and G modes, respectively16. The G-band was attributed to the in-plane vibration of sp 2 bonded carbon atoms, while the D-band was associated with the presence of defects in the graphitic layers1635. The spectrum of RGO-Zr (Fig.…”

“…Graphite oxide (GO): GOs are known as pseudo-two dimensional solid materials with covalent between the layers. Graphite oxide is often prepared by heat treatment of graphite flakes with oxidizing agents such that polar groups are introduced on the graphite surface [5,15,16]. This treatment also widens the interlayer spacing between the graphene sheets.…”

“…Graphene as the nanoadsorbent mainly includes three forms: pristine graphene, graphene oxide (GO), and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) [58]. GO is an oxidized form of graphene, containing various oxygen-containing groups, such as epoxide, carbonyl, carboxyl, and hydroxyl groups [59][60][61][62][63]. Since the oxygen groups break the double bonds holding the carbon atoms together, GO loses its electrical conductivity.…”
