Synthesis and Characterization of Poly(azomethine)/ZnO Nanocomposite Toward Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Blue, Malachite Green, and Bismarck Brown

Abstract: This research was carried out based on the significance of protecting the environment by preventing the contamination of water caused from effluents discharge from dyeing industries, effective nanocomposite were prepared to solve this problem. The poly(azomethine), ZnO, and poly(azomethine)/ZnO nanocomposites were prepared and characterized by Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet (UV)–visible spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX), scanning ele… Show more

“…The dose of the photocatalyst was taken 500 mg, while the dye was taken in 50 mg L −1 concentration. The degradation efficiency was found 97% for MB and 96%, 95% were found for malachite green and Bismarck brown dyes in 5 h and the rate constant of pseudo-first-order reaction kinetics was found 0.2803, 0.3232, and 0.3762 min −1 for methylene blue, malachite green, and brilliant blue dyes, respectively (Pradeeba and Sampath 2019 ).…”

“…Under sonication, ZnO or TiO 2 nanoparticles are liberated in acetone and simultaneously added to the polymeric solution. The precipitated ZnO incorporated polyazomethine (PNZ) or TiO 2 incorporated polyazomethine (PNT) composite material is filtered, washed repeatedly in acetone and dried out [24].FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and Energy Dispersive Analysis X-ray powder X-ray diffraction were used to verify the synthesised polyazomethines (PNT & PNZ) [25][26][27][28][29][30][31].…”

“…About 500 mg of polyazomethine (Vasanthi and Ravikumar, 2013) is suspended in 100 mL of dimethyl formamide solution under steady stirring and sonicated for 48 h. Simultanously, nanoparticles (TiO2&ZnO) is diffused in acetone, sonicated and added immediately into the polymeric solution under sonication. The precipitated polyazomethines (PNT & PNZ) composite material is filtered, washed repeatedly in acetone and dried out 2019). The synthesized polyazomethines (PNT & PNZ) were verified using FT-IR spectroscopy (BRUKER EQUINOX-55), UV-Vis spectroscopy (SHIMADZU), powder X-ray diffraction (Scintag-XDS-2000 meter), scanning electron microscope (JSM-7600F Japan), transmission electron microscopy (JEOL model 2100) and energy dispersive analysis X-ray 2019).…”
