“…The Y 1.4972 Ce 0.8384 Ru 0.0387 O 4 formula indicates that the Zn 2+ and Al 3+ ions are replaced by Ce 4+ , Ru 4+ , and Y 3+ in the well-known spinel ZnAl 2 O 4 . The XPS spectrum deconvolution for the O 1s peak, as given in Figure d, shows five peaks as O 1s, O 1s A, O 1s B, O 1s C, and O 1s D at 528.78, 530.31, 531.39, 532.58, and 533.78 eV, respectively, which are in agreement with the values presented for O 1s peaks in the literature. − These five peaks may be assigned to the Y–O, Ce–O, and Ru–O bonds of the spinel catalyst material along with the C–O bonds due to the hydrocarbon compounds present on the particle surfaces. Three peaks are observed at 885, 900, and 917 eV (Figure e), which can be deconvoluted to three, four, and one peaks, respectively.…”
