Synthesis and Characterization of New Polycarbonate-Based Poly(thiourethane-urethane)s

Abstract: The new segmented poly(thiourethane-urethane)s (PTURs) based on 1,1′-methanediylbis(4-isocyanatocyclohexane) (HMDI, Desmodur W®), polycarbonate diol (PCD, Desmophen C2200) and (methanediyldibenzene-4,1-diyl)dimethanethiol were synthesized by one-step melt polyaddition method. The obtained PTURs, with a content of 30–60 wt% of the hard segments (HS), were tested in which the influence of changes in the HS content on their properties was determined. The polymers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared s… Show more

“…Absorption peaks derived from the NCO group in MR200 at 2250 cm −1 and the SH group in HDT at 2550 cm −1 were hardly detected. The characteristic peaks derived from thiol‐urethane bond was newly detected at 1646 cm −1 (CO stretching), 1512 cm −1 (NH bending), and 3290 cm −1 (NH stretching) in the porous polymer 23–25 . The peaks derived from methylene (2925, 2850, and 764 cm −1 ), CN (1407 and 1305 cm −1 ), and phenyl group (3028–3105, 1600, 889, and 810 cm −1 ) were also detected.…”

“…The characteristic peaks derived from thiol-urethane bond was newly detected at 1646 cm À1 (C O stretching), 1512 cm À1 (N H bending), and 3290 cm À1 (N H stretching) in the porous polymer. [23][24][25] The peaks derived from methylene (2925, 2850, and 764 cm À1 ), C N (1407 and 1305 cm À1 ), and phenyl group (3028-3105, 1600, 889, and 810 cm À1 ) were also detected. The peaks at 1150 cm À1 and 1240 cm À1 would be attributed to the appearance of C O connected to N H [26][27][28] or C S. These results indicate the reaction should successfully occur in the reaction system.…”
