Synthesis and characterization of new hydrogels on the basis of water‐soluble maleic anhydride copolymers with γ‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane

Abstract: This work describes the synthesis and macromolecular reactions of maleic anhydride (MA)-acrylic acid (AA) binary reactive copolymers with ␥-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTS) as a polyfunctional crosslinker. Copolymers with a given composition of MA-AA (47.17-52.83 wt %) were synthesized by radical binary copolymerization with benzoyl peroxide as an initiator in p-dioxane at 70°C in nitrogen atmosphere and initial monomer ratio of 1 : 1. It is shown that the network structure is formed in MA-AA/ APTS in water b… Show more

“…Previously, we observed a similar effect for binary and ternary copolymers of an MA/VA/acrylic acid monomer system. 26,27 It was shown that the VA linkages in the terpolymer imparted immobility to the polymer chains and low polyanionic character. 27 The hydrolyzed copolymer has sufficiently high antitumor activity, which depends on the amount of hydrogen-bonding carboxylic groups and their regular distribution in the side chains of functional macromolecules.…”

“…Water-soluble anhydride-containing copolymers, used as polyanions, and their functional derivatives have high biological and physiological activity and, in particular, antimicrobial and antitumor properties (12)(13)(14). Especially pyran containing copolymers and terpolymers of 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran (DHP) including poly (DHP-alt-MA) are linked to a class of high performance bioengineering polymers which have a wide range of applications in bio-and gene-engineering processing, and drug delivery systems as effective agents, enzyme carriers and bioconjugates (11)(12)(13)(14)(15)(16). 3,4-Dihydro-2H-pyran (DHP) and its derivate undergo complex-radical alternating copolymerization with MA with ease (12).…”

“…The last one is melt processing method in which intercalation and exfoliation of layered silicates in polymeric matrix is applied during mat (10)(11)(12)(13)(14)(15). Clay and their modified organic derivatives are characterized employing not only simple, but also modern characterization methods including identification of chemical compositions by gravimetric analysis, inductively coupled plasma (ICP) or XRF, cation exchange capacity (CEC) using standard ammonium acetate method, surface area measurement, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), powdered X-ray diffraction (XRD) and others (15)(16)(17)(18)(19). The instrumental techniques, mainly FTIR and XRD, are essential methods for determination of clay structure.…”
