Synthesis and characterization of monosodium urate (MSU) nano particles

Abstract: In Gout the deposition of crystals of Monosodium Urate monohydrate (MSUM) in various connective tissues and joints occurs, which is very painful with immflamation. The deposition likely to begin with nano particles form and expected to grow in to micro-paricles and hence it is important to synthesize and characrterize MSU nano-particles. The MSU nano particles were synthesized by wet chemical method using NaOH and uric acid (C5H4N4O3) and then characterized by powder XRD, TEM, FT-IR and thermal analysis. From t… Show more

“…MSU crystals were prepared according to an established method. 3 50 cm 3 sodium hydroxide (0.2 M) was heated to 70°C. Uric acid (1.67 g, 9.93 mmol) was added in small portions and the solution was stirred for 4 h. A white opaque powder precipitate was recovered by filtrating, washing with distilled water, and drying at 60°C.…”

“…Peaks at 3408, 1726, 1622, 1221, and 1051 cm –1 in the spectrum of GO film are from H 2 O, carboxyl CO, aromatic CC, epoxy C–O, alkoxyl C–O, respectively . The FTIR spectrum of the p PD–rGO film presents three new peaks at 823, 1165, and 1508 cm –1 , originating from N–H rocking, C–N stretching vibrations, and C–N and N–H bending vibrations, respectively. During the preparation of the p PD–rGO suspension, the reaction between p PD molecules and GO nanosheets generated C–N groups.…”
