Synthesis and characterization of Mn-doped ZnO nanorods grown in an ordered periodic honeycomb pattern using nanosphere lithography

Abstract: We report a study of the structural, optical and magnetic properties of undoped and Mn-doped ZnO nanorods grown by chemical bath deposition in a periodic honeycomb lattice formation.Mn-doping is accomplished by a diffusion process at a constant time of 8 h for different temperatures of 500, 600 and 700 °C. Undoped and Mn-doped ZnO nanorods had a hexagonal wurtzite structure with a (002)

“…The signals observed at 641.51 and 642.44 eV could be assigned to Mn 2 O 3 and MnO 2 , respectively, indicating the presence of Mn oxides associated Mn-doped ZnO and/or the incorporation of Mn ions in the ZnO lattice in the + 3 or + 4 oxidation states. The latter hypothesis is supported by recent reports [45,46]. Finally, Fig.…”

“…The patterns are a very good agreement with the standard result (JCPDS 36–1451). The (002) peak with high intensity indicates that the ZnO crystal grows on the c‐axis and thus has nanorod geometry 27 . The intensity of the (002) peak in the pattern seen in Figure 3B is the highest.…”

“…The (002) peak with high intensity indicates that the ZnO crystal grows on the c-axis and thus has nanorod geometry. 27 The intensity of the (002) peak in the pattern seen in Figure 3B is the highest. The lattice parameters of the ZnO seed layer and undoped ZnO nanorod samples were calculated from the XRD results and listed in Table 2.…”
