Synthesis and Characterization of Mesoporous Aluminosilicates for Copper Removal from Aqueous Medium

Abstract: In this study the characterization of an aluminosilicate synthesized from commercial Al2(SO4)3 and colloidal SiO2 is presented, as well as its capacity for the removal of copper from aqueous solution. Characterization of the synthesized material was performed using X-ray diffraction, BET nitrogen adsorption-desorption, mass titration and the Boehm method. In order to obtain stable agglomeration and enhance its surface a… Show more

“…Whereas the isotherm of EC-GC8 shown in Fig. 4(b) is a characteristic of a typical mesoporous-like material, which is confirmed by the type IV plateau with an H3 hysteresis loop 41,50,51 . In this, we could observe a higher surface area of 329.99 m 2 g −1 and the material is mesoporous with pore size and volume of 45.8 nm and 0.11 cm 3 g −1 respectively ( Fig.…”

“…The isotherms of all of the Pd/SZ samples demonstrated type H3 hysteresis, which is associated with slit-shaped mesopores. 40,41 The desorption of N 2 from mesopores of various sizes contributes to the slopes of hysteresis in the respective isotherms. The pore-size distributions of the samples in Figure 7 were analyzed based on the desorption branch in the N 2 isotherm.…”
