Synthesis and Characterization of Magnetic Drug Carriers Modified with Tb3+ Ions

Abstract: The study aimed to synthesize and characterize the magnetic drug carrier modified with terbium (III) ions. The addition of terbium extends the possibilities of their applications for targeted anticancer radiotherapy as well as for imaging techniques using radioisotopes emitting β+, β−, α, and γ radiation. The synthesis of iron oxide nanoparticles stabilized with citrates using the co-precipitation method (IONP @ CA) was carried out during the experimental work. The obtained nanoparticles were used to synthesiz… Show more

“…The current literature reports a large range of SAR values, starting from 85 W/g for hydroxyapatite-coated Fe 3 O 4 [44], 248 W/g for PEG-modified NPs conjugated with folic acid as a targeting agent [45] and 1018 W/g for Mn,Zn-doped iron oxide [46]. We found our nanoparticles fit into the trend of previously reported achievements [15,40,41]. Obtained NPs radiobioconjugates are effective heat mediators in the moderate (345-386 kHz) studied frequencies and can achieve temperatures over 41 • C desired for in vitro studies.…”

“…The magnetic properties of iron oxide nanoparticles conjugated with different molecules, including trastuzumab, have been studied by our group during previously reported experiments [15,30,36,40,41]. In this work, magnetic hyperthermia studies were performed for NPs-PEG and NPs-Tmab radiobioconjugates.…”

“…This does not depend on the type of used lipid or the concentration of HAp (even more than 30 mg L −1 ). The observed effect is very promising and consistent with the in vitro studies because the carrier should be inert to lipid structures and living cells [99]. Hydroxyapatite modified with calendula extract has a strong affinity for both lipids.…”

“…When MOG‐0 is complexed with the CNFs, the P–O stretching vibrations at 990 cm −1 in MOG‐0 slightly shift to 996 cm −1 . [ 16 ] With the increase of the metallogel content in MOG‐CNF, the stretching vibration peak of PO bonds gradually enhances (Figure S7, Supporting Information). The COOH (1592 cm −1 ) and OH peaks (3341 cm −1 ) assigned to the CNFs in the CNF‐MOG‐2 shift to 1599 and 3345 cm −1 , respectively, indicating the formation of hydrogen bonds between the CNFs and metallogels.…”
