Synthesis and characterization of [Cd8Cl2Se(SePh)12(PCy3)2]·2.5CH3OH

Show more

“…Our research group has a vast experience in the synthesis and characterization of metal chalcogenolate clusters, polymers, and complexes, by exploring the reactivity of M ( EAr ) building blocks – mainly Hg(SePh) 2 , Hg(TePh) 2 and Cd(SePh) 2 – in redistribution reactions . This methodology is a good alternative to the well‐established method used by Fenske, Corrigan and co‐workers, which involves the use of silyl reagents E (SiMe 3 ) 2 and RE SiMe 3 as sources of chalcogenide and chalcogenolate ligands, respectively, for the synthesis of metal chalcogenide and chalcogenolate nanoclusters …”

“…Motivated by the prospect of future application of these materials in the field of materials chemistry, our research group has investigated the synthesis and characterization of new metalchalcogenide compounds that present interesting structural and spectroscopic features [28][29][30]. To contribute to the development of the metal-organochalcogen chemistry and expand the available literature, the present study reports the synthesis and structural characterization, along with spectroscopic data and a detailed Raman analysis, of two novel metal-chalcogenide compounds based on polymeric frameworks constructed by Se-Hg intermolecular interactions.…”

“…E (SiMe 3 ) 2 and RE (SiMe 3 ) act as a single source of E 2– and RE – , with subsequent elimination of chlorosilane derivatives 59. We have already demonstrated the use of M ( E Ph) 2 ( M = Cd, Hg; E = Se, Te) as an efficient delivery source of MER for the synthesis of binary complexes,1012 polymeric structures,1216 and clusters compounds 1719…”
