Synthesis and characterization of bis(indenyl) zirconium aryloxide derivatives and their use in α‐olefin polymerization

Abstract: BuC 6 H 4 , 6) were synthesized by a metathesis reaction of Ind 2 ZrCl 2 (1) with the appropriate thallium aryloxide salt, TlOL. The complexes 1-6 were characterized by 1 H and 13 C NMR techniques. They were also examined as catalysts for ethene and 1-hexene polymerization with methylalumoxane as co-catalyst, and a trend of the polymerization activity as a function of aryloxide ligands was observed. An interpretation of this trend, considering both the electronic and steric effects of the substituents on the a… Show more

“…Tl(OAr F ). This compound also previously has been reported in the literature as a reagent, and we report the synthesis and spectroscopic data that characterize this material here for the same reasons as for K(OAr F ). A 25-g portion of TlOEt (100.23 mmol) was added via syringe to 18.45 g of HOAr F (100.23 mmol) in 500 mL of CH 2 Cl 2 with vigorous stirring.…”
