Synthesis and Characterization of Banana and Pineapple Reinforced Hybrid Polymer Composite for Reducing Environmental Pollution

Abstract: Nonbiodegradable polymers constitute major pollution and their usage cannot be ignored due to their properties. Hybrid polymer composite research has increased in recent times due to improved characteristics and biodegradable nature. The effect of different stacking sequences containing pineapple/banana/basalt fiber has been studied in the present work to reduce the usage of synthetic fibers without compromising on properties. Hybrid composites were manufactured using the hand layup method and were assessed fo… Show more

“…The contour plots depicted in Figures 7 demonstrate that the engine's capacity to operate with minimal CO, HC emissions, and SEC is significantly impacted by the lowest achievable ratio of biofuel and the lowest engine load [22][23][24][25][26][27][28]. On the other hand, the increase in the blending ratio led to elevated levels of HC concentrations due to the oil's low viscosity, resulting in a decrease in droplet sizes and diffusion.…”

“…The higher the number of CC fillers, the harder the composites [26] . On the other hand, the addition of pineapple leaf fibre decreases the composite hardness [4,13] . One reason is that the hardness of the pineapple leaf fibre is lower than that of CC filler and UPR.…”

“…The material used is a matrix of unsaturated polyester resin filled with calcium carbonate filler and reinforcement using E-glasses chopped strand mat and woven roving with usually three millimeters composite thickness [1] . However, when these synthetic materials are not used, or their life cycle has run out, they are difficult to decompose naturally, which will likely pollute the envi-ronment if not controlled [2,3,4] .…”

“…In addition to costing less to make, polymeric composites with fillers meet high-performance standards and are of higher quality. [32][33][34][35] The fact is that reinforcement in polymers must be uniformly distributed but not agglomerated. Stirring process parameters for mixing a filler with epoxy must be chosen as per our requirements.…”

“…Because polymers have weaknesses like poor strength and low impact resistance, the use of fillers improves the mechanical, thermal, physical, and electrical properties of polymers. In addition to costing less to make, polymeric composites with fillers meet high‐performance standards and are of higher quality 32–35 . The fact is that reinforcement in polymers must be uniformly distributed but not agglomerated.…”
