Synthesis and Characterization of Anatase TiO2 Nanorods: Insights from Nanorods’ Formation and Self-Assembly

Abstract: Highly crystalline, organic-solvent-dispersible titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanorods (NRs) present promising chemicophysical properties in many diverse applications. In this paper, based on a modified procedure from literature, TiO2 NRs were synthesized via a ligand-assisted nonhydrolytic sol-gel route using oleic acid as the solvent, reagent, and ligand and titanium (IV) isopropoxide as the titanium precursor. This procedure produced monodisperse TiO2 NRs, as well as some semi-spherical titania nanocrystals (NCs)… Show more

“…TiO 2 is in the metastable anatase form at low temperatures, and here some rutile peaks can be seen because of sintering. However, the main diffraction peak at the position of Bragg’s angle of 25.2° (101) is observed in the anatase form of TiO 2 (Figure ). Moreover, other peaks which are relevant for the TiO 2 anatase form are located in the positions of Bragg’s angles of 37, 48, 53, and 62°, corresponding to the planes of (103), (004), (200), and (301), respectively.…”

“…Figure 3 a represents the XRD spectrum of CuCo 2 O 4 @rGO. By comparing the sample’s XRD peaks with the standard PDF cards, we identified the predominant presence of CuCo 2 O 4 , corresponding to the JCPDS 001-1155 [ 23 ] standard card.…”

“…Moreover, the austenite peak intensities for the stainless steel substrate at 2 θ = 43° (111) and 2 θ = 54° (200) decreased when the solution concentration was increased. On the other hand, the peak at 35° is typical of TiO 2 -B [ 21 ], which was detected in the XRD patterns of FS1, FS2, and FS3 coatings in Figure 7 and Figure 8 . TiO 2 -B is a crystalline form of titania with a looser structure than that of anatase and rutile.…”
