Synthesis and Characterization of a Core-Shell Copolymer with Different Glass Transition Temperatures

Abstract: The aim of this study is to synthesize an organic core-shell co-polymer with a different glass transition temperature (Tg) between the core and the shell that can be used for several applications such as the selective debonding of coatings or the release of encapsulated materials. The co-polymer was synthesized using free radical polymerization and was characterized with respect to its morphology, composition and thermal behavior. The obtained results confirmed the successful synthesis of the co-polymer copoly… Show more

“…Therefore, the FTIR data suggest the results of ESR data. with the Tg values reported for homo polymers (Startsev et al, 2018;Goulis et al, 2020) and copolymers (Gatica et al, 2001). Thermal data observed for PMAA and PMMA-PMAA copolymer, while thermal data examined in the present studies are as specified in Table 5.…”

“…The polymerization reaction of LMA and EGDMA into poly(LMA‐co‐EGDMA) is a free radical reaction, and an exothermic process. [ 56–58 ] The noticeable difference in the heat flow between the cured and non‐cured samples confirmed a successful thermal polymerization of the core of the electrosprayed liquid‐core/solid‐shell particles into poly(LMA‐co‐EGDMA)/PMMA particles.…”

“…The initial phase of designing effective drug delivery systems hinges on understanding the hydrophilic properties of the carriers involved. [32,33] In this study, we conducted water contact angle measurements to assess the hydrophilicity of the nanocarrier materials-silica and titania in relation to the drug, Ciprofloxacin (CIP). As depicted in Figure 6, the water contact angle results provide insights into the surface properties of the samples.…”
