Synthesis and Application to Polyester and Nylon 6 Fabrics of Hetaryl Bis-Azo Disperse Dyes Based on 6-Amino-2,4-Dihydroxypyrimidine and 4-Methoxy-2-Nitroaniline Moieties

Abstract: Six new bis-azo disperse dyes were synthesized by linking various aryl amino and hydroxyl derivatives to 4-methoxy-2-nitroaniline and 6-amino-2,4-dihydroxypyrimidine moieties through diazo coupling reactions. The structures of the bis-azo dyes were identified by Fourier transform infrared, proton and carbon 13 nuclear magnetic resonance data. The prepared dyestuffs were applied onto polyester and nylon 6 fabrics and subsequently their fastness properties in terms of light, washing, sublimation and rubbing were… Show more

“…The nitroso dyes contain the R-N=O group, which in association with the hydroxyl groups are capable of complexing with various metals. This ability of the monoazodyes to complex with metals have been reported for the purpose of inhibiting corrosion of metals [2,3]. In addition, some nitroso dyes have been found to exhibit near infrared properties.…”

“…However, the performance of the colourant during dry and wet rubbing with copper sulphate as the mordant was observed to be better compared with stannous chloride mordant. The ability of a colourant on a dyed or printed fabric to resist the action of daylight is an important attribute of coloured textiles [29]. The light fastness results of the dyed cotton and polyamide 6 fabrics are shown in Table 3.…”

“…The outer surface has a major impact on the fibre properties. Many researchers around the globe are working on the study of basic properties and also the structural modifications of cotton fibre to attain more stability by depositing nano-composites on the cotton fibre [4][5][6][7][8][9][10]. The elastic properties of cotton fibre play an important role in the textile industry applications.…”
