A series of heterocyclic compounds incorporating pyridazine moiety were for diverse biological activities. Pyridazines and pyridazinones derivatives showed wide spectrum of biological activities such as vasodialator, cardiotonic, anticonvulsant, antihypertensive, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-feedant, herbicidal, and various other biological, agrochemical and industrial chemical activities. The results illustrated that the synthesized pyridazine/pyridazine compounds have diverse and significant biological activities. Mechanistic insights into the biological properties of pyridazinone derivatives and various synthetic techniques used for their synthesis are also described.

The title compound, C13H14O3, a levulinic acid derivative, crystallizes with two independent molecules (AandB) in the asymmetric unit. The compound adopts aZconfiguration about the C=C bonds in both molecules. The dihedral angle between the toluene ring and the carboxylic acid group is 72.83 (7)° in moleculeAand 83.64 (8)° in moleculeB. The toluene rings are inclined to the ketone substituents by 27.03 (9)° forAand 30.84 (6)° forB. In the crystal, like molecules are linked by pairs of O—H...O hydrogen bonds, formingA–AandB-Binversion dimers.

This paper describes an alternative method for the synthesis of 3‐organoselanylbenzo[b]furans through the intramolecular cyclization of 2‐alkynylphenols promoted by copper iodide and diorganyl diselenides. The cyclization reactions were carried out at room temperature in the absence of base and under air (open flask). This synthetic approach proved to be efficient with both diorganyl diselenides and 2‐alkynylphenols bearing electron‐neutral, electron‐donating, and electron‐withdrawing substituents. 2‐Phenyl‐3‐phenylselanylbenzo[b]furan was used as a synthetic precursor in organochalcogen–lithium exchange and bromination reactions, allowing the synthesis of functionalized benzo[b]furans in good yields.
