Aims: study of the composition of lyophilic substances in the raw materials of Crataegus rivularis Nutt. Study Design: experimental laboratory studies of dry plant materials. Place and Duration of Study: Bashkir State Medical University, Izhevsk State Medical Academy, Volga Research Medical University and Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences from August 2021 to May 2022. Methodology: Using gas chromatography with a mass-selective detector, lipophilic fractions of the fruits, shoots, flowers, leaves and fruits of riverine hawthorn, harvested in 2021 in the South Ural Botanical Garden-Institute, were studied. Results: In general, the shoots and leaves of Crataegus rivularis accumulate compounds of the class of steroids, phytosterols, terpenoids, saponins and phenolic compounds, which suggests that the raw material may have additional pharmacological properties, such as hypocholesterolemic and antioxidant. Conclusion: The results obtained show the good prospects for further studies of the composition of hawthorn extracts to expand the possibilities of phytotherapy.

Introduction. In endosurgery of the digestive tract, ‘cellular technologies’ are gaining popularity, including the use of blood components or blood cells with a haemostatic purpose. In this regard, the objective of the study is evaluation of the effectiveness of bleeding control and safety of resection of the hollow organs of the digestive tract in the experimental trauma models of the abdominal organs in laboratory animals.Materials and methods. The study was conducted in 20 mature male Chinchilla rabbits with the mean body mass of 2450 ± 210 g. All animals were divided into four experimental groups: the control group (without bleeding control); the group that received the infiltration of the wall of a hollow organ with saline; the group in which bleeding was controlled by argon plasma coagulation (APC), and the group wherein animals underwent haemostasis with autoplasma.Results. In the control group and the physiological saline group, no statistical difference was observed in the time of bleeding control. Autoplasma, due to preventive local administration, is more effective than APC and has a high haemostatic potential.Conclusion. Autoplasma has been found to be highly effective and safe for bleeding control in the gastrointestinal tract in the experimental model, which has paved the way for new possibilities for operations of various scales, including endoscopic operations.

Infusions, decoctions and teas made from hot drinking water and various medicinal plants are widely used in folk medicine and pharmacy in the Russian Federation and in the countries of Southwest Asia. In this study, the methods of ethnopharmacology and pharmacy were combined to clarify the mechanism of action of traditional herbal mixtures in the phytotherapy of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The technology of preparation of infusions, decoctions and teas from medicinal plants and the quality of water are analyzed. It is shown that the traditional assessment of the pharmacological activity of herbal mixtures was previously considered only from the point of view of the biological activity of the main chemical components, without taking into account the influence of water, its volume, as well as without taking into account acidic, osmotic (hypotonic) activity and temperature of water extracts. However, it has been shown that drinking water is also the main active ingredient of water extracts, and the quality of water and its physical-chemical properties can be important in the effect on the body of patients. In particular, attention is drawn to the fact that ingestion of 250 ml of such aqueous extracts can dilute blood plasma, reduce the concentration of all substances in it, including glucose concentration, reduce osmotic activity of the plasma and promote the removal of glucose from the body due to its "washing". Therefore, traditional herbal medicine based on ingestion of 250 ml of aqueous extracts 2-4 times a day may be accompanied by hypoglycemia and a decrease in the concentration of all other ingredients in the blood plasma not so much due to the action of biologically active substances, but also due to the action of water. The process of reducing the concentration of glucose in the blood is more intense and significant, the faster the water is absorbed into the blood and the more water is drunk. It is also obvious that some of the glucose is excreted with water from the body during urination and sweating. Nevertheless, in order to give a definitive answer to the role of herbal teas and infusions in the phytotherapy of diabetes mellitus, new and more comprehensive pharmacological studies are required in the future, taking into account the volume of water and the physico-chemical properties of water extracts.
