“…The identity of the [FeCl 4 ] − anion was confirmed by the tetrahedral bond angles and Fe-Cl distances of 2.1784(11)-2.1951(8) Å for the FeCl 4 − counterion being in close agreement to the reported values 2.163(4)-2.21(2) Å. [27][28][29] The presence of the [FeCl 4 ] 2− anion was eliminated on the basis of X-ray crystallography, which has reported bond lengths of 2.2780(13)-2.3626(13) Å and a departure from tetrahedral geometry. 30 The trigonal bipyramidal coordination for compound 16 was not followed for either the unsubstituted phenyl or more hindered isopropoxyaryl ligands, HL 1a or HL 1c , when the FeCl 2 precursor was used under identical conditions.…”

“…These compounds contain either [Fe(III) 3 ], [Fe(III) 2 Fe(II)], or [Fe(III)Fe(II) 2 ] cores depending on whether the complex is cationic, neutral, or anionic, respectively. 14 Derivatives may be prepared with a range of both carboxylate substituents and neutral donor ligands, and many of the examples have been crystallographically characterized. The oxo-hexacarboxylate-triron compounds are too small to act as catalyst precursors and therefore the formation of a catalyst particle will require aggregation.…”

“…Therefore, a quantitative evaluation of ESI data is difficult [39]. We used ESIeMS in our study, starting the investigation with the iron acetate complex AC which, according to previously reported data on this one and similar compounds [40,41], is a trinuclear oxo-centered cluster. We considered useful for our study to have the MS data of the starting material, since we used in our reactions the polycrystalline compound as obtained from water, without further re-crystallization.…”
