Syntheses and crystal structures of Eu(III) and Sm(III) perrhenate complexes with 2,2′-(imino)bis(N,N′-diethylacetamide)

Abstract: Europium(III) and Sm(III) perrhenate complexes with 2,2 -(imino)bis(N,N -diethyl-acetamide) (IDEA) were synthesized. From the single crystal X-ray analyses, the synthesized complexes were found to be [Eu(IDEA)

“…Unfortunately, there are no experimental reports of interaction distances for aqueous Eu 2+ and Sm 2+ to compare to our results directly. However, there are some studies 53–56 of these ions coordinated with a few Oxygens (in different structures) that have distances ranging from 2.5 to 2.7 Å which is close to the QM and AMOEBA values. In addition, if we are to relate the distance of these two ions and Oxygen to Sr 2+ O, as suggested in reference, 57 the distance of Sr 2+ coordinated to 8 Oxygens ranges from 2.6 to 2.68, which fits the range of what was calculated from the present AMOEBA models.…”

“…The k -range considered in the data analysis of the present work, however, does not allow resolution of the features indicating separate Eu–O ligand and Eu–O nitrate scattering paths in Fourier transformed χ ( R ) data. 43 Therefore, oxygen atoms originating from DES and nitrate ions were clubbed together in one shell, indicated as Eu–O (Table 1), in the EXAFS data analysis. The participation of a higher Z back-scatterer is also indicated in the WT transformed data (Fig.…”
