“…44 However, Tiron functionalized resins have never been extensively explored for the preconcentration of metal ions. There are only brief preliminary reports 45,46 on the metalsorption behaviour of Tiron functionalized cellulose, polystyrene and polystyrene-divinylbenzene (3%) copolymer. It was therefore thought worthwhile to synthesize a chelating resin by covalently linking Tiron with Amberlite XAD-2 and to investigate its enrichment behaviour for divalent Cu, Cd, Co, Ni, Pb, Zn and Mn, and trivalent Fe and UO 2 II .…”

“…Columns filled with Amberlite XAD resin and related polymeric supports have been used for the preconcentration and separation of trace metal ions from various matrices (13)(14)(15)(16). The Amberlite XAD resins used by Parrish and co-workers (15,20,51) were Amberlite XAD-2 (polystyrene type), Amberlite XAD-4 (polystyrene-divinylbenzene copolymer type), Amberlite XAD-7 (acrylic ester type), etc.…”
