Synthesis, Characterization, and UV-VIS-Spectral Behaviour of 4-Benzhydrylamino-Substituted Azobenzenes.-Fifteen 4benzhydrylamino-substituted azobenzenes such as (III) are synthesized using the direct coupling of the corresponding diazonium compounds, e.g. (I), with arylamines, e.g. (II). The donor increments of the different N-benzhydrylamino substituents are obtained from the absorption maxima of the compounds with R1: -H. The absorption maxima for the remaining compounds are calculated using these new increments in conjunction with the known increments of R1 and show good correspondance to experimental data. -(EPPERLEIN, J.; MAIS, S.; BLAU, B.; J.
