Synopsis of the genera of Ceratopogonidae (Diptera)

Abstract: Summary.A synopsis is presented for the classification of the 78 genera and subgenera of C eratopogonidae of the w orld. Taxonom ic keys are given for the separation of the genera. A short history is given for the classification of the fam ily. The biting m idges of this fam ily include im portant bloodsucking pests, vectors of several anim al diseases, pollinators of seve ral tropical crops, and parasites and predators of other insects.
