Synergistic Effects of Thiocyanate With Flumethasone in Inhibiting Wool Growth in Merino Wethers

Abstract: Sheep bearing 5-cm fleeces and being fed a maintenance diet were infused subcutaneously with potassium thiocyanate (KSCN) (07g/kgo.75) and/or flumethasone (066 or 13rng/kgo.75) over 8 days. Wool growth was evaluated by clipping defined patches of 100 cm2 on the mid-sides of the animals. Plasma concentrations of flumethasone, thiocyanate, and thyroxine were measured~ Food eaten by the animals was also monitored.
