Synergistic effect of surface oxygen vacancies and interfacial charge transfer on Fe(III)/Bi2MoO6 for efficient photocatalysis

Abstract: Novel Fe(III) clusters grafted Bi2MoO6 nanosheets with surface oxygen vacancies (denoted as F/BMO-SOVs) heterostructured composite have been firstly fabricated via a reliable calcination process combined with impregnation approach. The surface oxygen vacancies (SOVs) in Bi2MoO6 were formed due to controlled calcination process. The presence of Fe (III) clusters was confirmed by HRTEM, XPS, and UV-Vis DRS. Under visible light irradiation, the optimum molar ratio of 15% F/BMO-SOVs achieved 93.4% degradation effi… Show more

“…S5(a) and (b)], respectively. 79,80 All samples except Cu 3 P-Ni 2 P showed the same absorption edge at ∼450 nm. Moreover, the absorption spectrum had no obvious shift, indicating that Cu 3 P-Ni 2 P was dispersed on the surface of g-C 3 N 4 rather than doped into its crystal lattice.…”

“…As a result, the carriers separation was synergistically facilitated by vacancy states and "hot spot" at contact interface (Figure 14d) ensured that hot electrons could strongly interact with O 2 to form * O 2 À , along with hot holes of a mild oxidizing ability for selective benzyl alcohol photocatalytic oxidation. Fu et al [75] reported that the synergistic effect of surface oxygen vacancies in Bi 2 MoO 6 and surface Fe(III) clusters facilitated the direct interfacial charge transfer (IFCT) to promote photogenerated electron-hole pairs bulk separation and suppress charges recombination. In general, constructing heterojunctions between semiconductors with different bandgaps is also an effective strategy to improve charge separation and transfer for higher photocatalytic performance.…”

“…In general, the concentration of phenols in wastewater is in the range of 10-300 mg/L (Al-Khalid & El-Naas, 2012). In the papers about phenol removal from wastewater with photocatalytic methods, the commonly used initial concentration was 10-50 mg/L (Ahmed, Rasul, Martens, Brown, & Hashib, 2010;Fu et al, 2019;Salim et al, 2019;Wang, Zhang, et al, 2019). Bisphenol A is a typical endocrine disrupting compounds (EDC), which is usually used to produce polycarbonate and epoxy resins.…”
