“…However, studies related to the corrosion in CO 2 -containing environment where O 2 and H 2 S exist simultaneously are still limited [10,14,15,16]. To our best knowledge, the coupling effect of O 2 and H 2 S in the simulated flue gas injection environment has been rarely reported.…”

“…In our prior work, we have reported the synergistic effect of O 2 , H 2 S and SO 2 impurities on the corrosion of X65 steel in water-saturated supercritical CO 2 system at 10 MPa and 50 • C [39]. Although the interactions among O 2 , H 2 S and SO 2 promoted the formation H 2 SO 4 and elemental sulfur, X65 steel still occurred uniform corrosion after being corroded for 120 h. Therefore, under test conditions, the localized corrosion should be closely related to the special corrosion phenomenon formed in water-saturated supercritical CO 2 system containing NO 2 : The spherical corrosion products could form which were similar to the shape of water droplets (Figs.…”

“…Many studies indicated that when O 2 , H 2 S or SO 2 are present in supercritical CO 2 system containing NO 2 , the interactions among these impurities can promote the formation of H 2 SO 4 and elemental sulfur [32,36,39]. The solubility of H 2 SO 4 in CO 2 is very low (high dew point) due to the hydrogen bonding [15,36].…”

“…Water-saturated experiments in general report higher corrosion rates compared to dissolved water experiments. Sun et al performed several test series [21][22][23][24] with water-saturated conditions and multiple impurities. For CO 2 -H 2 O-SO 2 they reported 0.5 mm/y and the addition of O 2 increased the corrosion rate to 1.0 mm/y.…”
