Synergism Antiproliferative Effects of Apigenin and Naringenin in NSCLC Cells

Abstract: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is one of the leading cancer killers. Apigenin (Api) and Naringenin (Nar) are natural bioactive substances obtained in various vegetables and fruits, possessing anti-tumor effects across multiple studies. This study investigated the latent synergistic antiproliferative functions of Api and Nar in A549 and H1299 NSCLC cells. Cell viability was determined after incubating with different concentrations of Api, Nar, or the combination of Api and Nar (CoAN) for 24 h. Analysis usin… Show more

“…47 ROS-dependent apoptosis triggered by BCL2 and CASP3 can inhibit the proliferation of NSCLC cells. 48 Based on the above research and analysis, the efficacy of new anti-NSCLC agents has great potential. Modern scientific and technological exploration based on the theory of traditional Chinese medicine is worthy of further study and exploration.…”

“…A recent report indicated that the combination of nobiletin and other plant extracts significantly induces NSCLC cytotoxicity, resulting in cell cycle arrest and the activation of apoptotic pathways. [ 45 ]…”

“…The resistance index (RI) values were deduced by comparing the IC 50 values of the resistant cells to those of their parental counterparts. The combination index (CI) values were determined as antagonism (CI > 1), additive effect (CI = 1), or synergism (CI < 1) by employing the Chou-Talalay method with CompuSyn software (version 1.0) [ 34 , 35 ].…”
