Symphyseal Cleft Injection in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Osteitis Pubis in Athletes

Abstract: Symphyseal cleft injection is a useful technique for the diagnosis and treatment of osteitis pubis in athletes. The procedure is well tolerated and may facilitate early resumption of competitive duties.

“…The abdominal muscles, rectus abdominis and external and internal oblique, attach distally to the inguinal ligament, conjoined tendon, and the pubic symphysis, whereas the adductor muscles, pectineus, adductor longus, adductor brevis, adductor magnus, and gracilis, originate from the superior and inferior rami of the pubis (1).
