Symmetries, holography, and quantum phase transition in two-dimensional dilaton AdS gravity

Abstract: We revisit the Almheiri-Polchinski dilaton gravity model from a two-dimensional (2D) bulk perspective. We describe a peculiar feature of the model, namely the pattern of conformal symmetry breaking using bulk Killing vectors, a covariant definition of mass and the flow between different vacua of the theory. We show that the effect of the symmetry breaking is both the generation of an infrared scale (a mass gap) and to make local the Goldstone modes associated with the asymptotic symmetries of the 2D spacetime.… Show more

“…We will revisit this point below. Expanding the field equations (4.8) around the IR fixed point we find 18) to linear order in Y, X and √ −γ 1 . The extrinsic curvature K 0 and the d'Alembertian 0 t were defined in (4.9), except for the index "0" indicating that here they are evaluated in the IR geometry with metric γ 0 .…”

“…See also e.g. [19,22,24,25], for AdS 2 backgrounds obtained from reductions of higher dimensional theories (see also [26]). In particular there are parallels with some of the analysis on the reduction of near extremal black holes in [25].…”

“…JT gravity may thus provide a gravity dual of the IR limit of the SYK model [33] (See appendix A for details. ), and the SYK/AdS 2 duality can thus be addressed in the context of JT gravity [14,[32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39].…”
