Symmetric Connectivity of Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks Based on Multi-Modal Directional Transducer

Abstract: Topology control is one of the most essential technologies in wireless sensor networks (WSNs); it constructs networks with certain characteristics through the usage of some approaches, such as power control and channel assignment, thereby reducing the inter-nodes interference and the energy consumption of the network. It is closely related to the efficiency of upper layer protocols, especially MAC and routing protocols, which are the same as underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs). Directional antenna tech… Show more

“…The exploration and development of the ocean have spurred research on underwater communication technology [ 2 , 3 ]. Underwater acoustic sensor networks [ 4 ] are extensively used in marine exploration, disaster warning, sea area surveillance [ 5 , 6 , 7 ], etc. However, both artificial communication equipment and marine organisms utilize acoustic signals for communication, resulting in a scarcity of underwater communication spectra.…”

“…Therefore, reliable wireless network communication is the focus of NAN in a smart grid. One of the feasible methods to achieve reliable wireless communication is fault-tolerant topology control [16,17]. The fault tolerance and invulnerability of wireless NAN can be improved by appropriate topology design in the case of partial node failure [18].…”
