This article aims to study the patterns of Islamic discourses constructed by radical Islamic groups in social media. This article focuses on analyzing several Instagram accounts of the groups in shaping Islamic discourses. The discourses of Islamic radicalism were actually not a new idea, even now it has become one of the most talked phenomena. This study discusses the discourse of Islamic radicalism on social media, which is one of its missions is to promote the idea of formalizing Islamic sharia in Indonesia. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. It then uses Foucault's perspective on power relation theory to analyze these problems. The data collection techniques were observation and documentation techniques. The results showed that the forms of Islamic radicalism discourses on social media such as the invitation to avoid bid'ah, the campaign to implement Islamic law or Islamic state, Islamic Khilafah discourse that carries "anti-democracy", and a campaign to marginalize women's role in the public sphere. These issues are produced by radical Islamic groups through social media because these media are considered to be strategic and effective in campaigning their discourses as a means of ideological struggle. Fundamentalist Islamic groups are very keen to read the gap, they distinguish a change in the daily lifestyle of modern society which cannot be separated from the gadget. Therefore, they try to master and construct Islamic discourses in cyberspace with their point of view without considering to allow the differences of contextual understanding.

After its launching in 2019, the religious moderation program has taken on conventional methods of religious gathering, seminar, and discussion, whereas the millennial generation, one of main targets of this campaign, are active social media users and unacquainted with these methods. Employing virtual ethnography with a digital observation to social media platform and online interview, this paper aims to investigate the religious moderation program in digital sphere as a strategy to counter radicalism that circulate in the virtual sphere. By focusing its analysis on the digital messages on religious moderation circulated digitally by the Peace Generation movement, this paper argues that religious moderation campaign targeting millennial group should be implemented in media which millennial generation are accustomed to such as social media. The application of social media in religious moderation campaign is not only strategic in distributing the messages but also an attractive method in providing accessible alternative content for the millennial generation.

This research explains about the rise of Muhammadiyah’s Islamic da’wah in the contemporary era. In particular, this study aims to describe the transformation of Muhammadiyah’s Islamic da’wah through social media and its response to Islamic moderation in Indonesia. The transformation of online da’wah was absolute, because it was based on the spread of ideology and narration of religious extremism that had been spreading on social media in the last two decades. This research used qualitative approach by strengthening the argumentation building on the research topic through descriptive analysis based on extracting data in the field. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews and documentation from various Muhammadiyah online da’wah sites. This research found a new and very important thesis issue, Muhammadiyah experienced a positive trend in strengthening Islamic da’wah strategies on social media. The rise was marked by an increase in the number of new online da’wah portals affiliated with Muhammadiyah. The various da’wah sites seemed innovative and creative in content and professional from the management side, as well as voicing the narrative of Islamic moderation.
