“…However, resistance to available therapeutics and high toxicity with severe side effects has provoked interest in antitumor drug discoveries with more accurate targets and low toxicity. 7 In general, equalized state of antioxidants production is very important to maintain intracellular ROS level for normal physiological functions. Imbalance in the state brings oxidative stress that disturbs cell physiology leading to cell death.…”

“…qPCR amplification was carried out for 25 cycles using the following protocol: 95˚C for 10 min, 94˚C for 30 sec, 55˚C for 30 sec, 72˚C for 30 sec and 72˚C for 10 min. The Pfaffl method was used for the relative mRNA quantification, as described previously (25,26).…”

“…Though we used phenol red media, it is unlikely that contaminating estrogens reduced the anticancer activity of tamoxifen as such contaminants have negligible estrogenic effects (Moreno‐Cuevas & Sirbasku, ). In addition, the IC 50 values we obtained for MCF‐7 cells following 24 h exposure to tamoxifen are lower than a recent report (Sabzichi et al ., ). Moreover, Gg (1 μ m , 24 h) induced significant early apoptosis in MCF‐7 breast cancer cells at a concentration more than threefold lower than the IC 50 for this isolate.…”
