Sustainable refined products supply chain: A reliability assessment for demand‐side management in primary distribution processes

Abstract: The reliable operation of the primary distribution of refined products supply chains is crucial in guaranteeing the demand for retail markets. The uncertainties such as demand, production, and inventory will affect the supply chain operation. However, there lacks literature that studies the reliability of demand‐side management of refined products supply chains. This reliability assessment can help define the weak points and boost the performance of the supply chain. And it can help decision‐makers to improve … Show more

“…e review method and analytical perspective adopted can be part of the limitations of this study because the reference articles included only 42 cases [135,138,139,232,236,238,241,242,246,. Hence, some relevant studies may not have been included in the final sample due to the database used, search strings, or exclusion criteria.…”

“…Disconnection of supply, increase of demand due to the change of seasons, and sudden increase of demand lead to an imbalance of supply and demand. From equilibrium conditions between supply and demand to assess the reliability of the natural gas supply chain in another study used [236], this approach is summarized in how supply and demand are planned in the supply chain and is explained in Table 6.…”

“…The deployment of stochastic-based simulation methods like MCS is very popular and useful. [32][33][34] Although it is possible to study the uncertainties using the MCS accurately, the computations would be time-consuming. 35 This problem is intensified when it is necessary to solve the optimization problems.…”
