Incidence and prevalence of end-stage renal disease Being the country with the highest incidence and prevalence of end-stage renal disease (ESRD), the incidence rate of dialysis was 455 patients per million general population (PMP) in Taiwan in 2014, with 408 PMP receiving hemodialysis (HD) and 47 PMP receiving peritoneal dialysis (PD). 1 The incidence rate increased to 476 patients PMP in 2015, with 45% of patients having diabetes as the leading primary cause of ESRD. 2 The prevalence of dialysis was 3219 PMP in 2014, with 2924 PMP receiving HD and 295 PMP receiving PD. This prevalence also increased to 3317 PMP in 2015. The majority of patients chose incenter HD (90.8%) as the modality of renal replacement therapy (RRT), while the others underwent PD (9.2%) in 2014. There were only a limited number of patients who received home HD since daily HD is ineligible for Taiwan's National Health Insurance (NHI) reimbursement.

Global changes, including the rise of the sea level and frequent terrible disasters, are apparently threatening the living environment. For environmental mitigation, security, and sustainability, Taiwan should have reliable, incorporative area-based security-information networks to protect their environments. Plural (dual) surveillance which is rooted in biologic senses, e.g., from two-eyes, can have the feature of fault-tolerance, availability and maintainability in monitoring tasks. Further, it can fit the contemporary wireless communication methods being incorporated with MIMO (multi-in multi-out), to prevent information loss, interference, unexpected changes caused by such as clogged water and chemical reactions. Consequently, network prototypes, including SW (spider-web)network and CCC (cube-connected cycle), are proactively suggested. More reliable capabilities, including those encouraging local ferries and drones, for efficient logistic operation and mixed-use buildings with quality assured performance, can be good for smart urban growth, resource utilization in Taiwan, which is aimed as an aerotropolis-a means for placemaking.

Holistic information integrity for managing wicked problems, developing equity is getting attention. Artifitial intelligence based topologies, dual sensor-information nodes, are prototyped to offer more availability, reliability, maintainability for operating healthy urbanism. Bipartite spider-webs, cube-connected cycles are aimed in ‘the radial-ring urban-building skeleton’ and ‘wetlands and sparsely populated areas’, respectively. Furthermore, honeycomb tori, mathematical HT(m), m≥2, for tasks related to wireless communications, are found having two mutually independent Hamiltonian paths (MIHP). This parallelism creates dual cipher-coding, supports logistic privacy, and help prevent information loss, electromagnetic interference, unexpected changes caused by such as clogged water.
