Sustainable, Energy Efficient and Economical Design of Single-Family Dwellings

Abstract: Large scale construction of housing units and other built infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and other Middle Eastern countries result in consumption of huge quantities of aggregate, water and cementitious materials causing fast depletion of these resources. Extreme weathering conditions, on the other hand, require construction of housing units having energy intensive serviceability resulting into uneconomical construction and operational costs of these housing units. This situation merits develo… Show more

“…On the environmental level, the block's layout took into account the energy efficiency by orienting most of the blocks into the best orientation according to the UAE climatic conditions. Passive design approach that matches the sun path is followed in order not only to reduce the indoor solar gains, but also to provide optimum shading for the outdoor spaces (see, Nassar et al, 2021Nassar et al, , p.1048. The landscape between the residential blocks is also enriched to solidify the concept of passive design.…”

“…In the protection of AH with BIM as the carrier, each uploaded quality management data contains information such as location and time. Although the data type is complex and the update speed is fast, in the BIM model based on component level, each piece of quality management data is associated with the component through ID, and the information in the design stage, construction stage, completion acceptance stage, and operation and maintenance stage is dynamically collected, modified, and optimized, With strong timeliness and traceability, it is easy to form massive data [11].…”

“…The application process of text mining in AHP is shown in Figure 1. Through text clustering and semantic network analysis, keywords and the relationship between keywords are extracted to achieve text dimension reduction and text representation, and data is presented in a visual form using tools [12].…”
