Academic research has brought attention to the utility of mobile health (mHealth) interventions for assisting cancer patients and survivors in managing their medication, symptoms, and well-being. This is a vital research area, as cancer is the second main cause of death for the global populace. However, the knowledge on mHealth interventions for cancer is distinctly fragmented and there is a lack of clarity on its boundaries, which hinders identification of existing gaps and valuable areas in which to advance future research. Our study addresses this gap and provides a comprehensive review of extant literature to determine the core areas of discourse. This systematic literature review (SLR) amalgamates the extant findings related to users' (cancer patients, cancer survivors, healthcare providers, and clients) experiences of mHealth interventions. Following rigorous protocols, we reviewed pertinent literature from Scopus and Web of Science databases to curate 78 studies. Grounded theory was adopted as an analytical framework and content analysis was used to explicate state-of-the-art insights. To our knowledge, this is the most comprehensive SLR on this topic. The findings revealed four themes and incumbent gaps: (i) intervention targets and affordances, (ii) individual outcomes, (iii) methodological approaches, and (iv) intervention resistance or adoption. Our findings contribute to theory by proposing key areas for meaningful future research. Additionally, our findings provide crucial inputs to practitioners, such as app developers and healthcare personnel, to improve user engagement with mHealth interventions.

Achieving quality education by providing equitable resources and promoting lifelong learning has attracted scholarly attention since the United Nations proposed Education for Sustainable Development (SDG4) in 2015. The transformation of information technologies has dramatically advanced the fulfillment of SDG4 by revolutionizing communication and learning processes. Updated research to trace the evolution of the relevant field will boost researchers executing ground-breaking research for improving the domain. By utilizing the bibliometric analysis with CiteSpace, this research investigated knowledge structures and frontier trends regarding information technology in sustainable higher education, which included 5370 documents primarily retrieved from the Web of Science between January 2010 and December 2022. The findings indicated that web-based online learning, transparent and unified sustainability reporting criteria, and sustainable campus administration with the assistance of information technologies had drawn significant attention. The most promising topics include: utilizing information technology to improve students’ cross-cultural competencies; adjusting curriculum content for the dynamic changing environment; collaborating between different participants to obtain a circular economy; and the priority of enhancing pedagogy competence of teachers. The results provide crucial insight to researchers via graphical expression, thus facilitating a comprehensive understanding of the field, shedding light on topics not thoroughly explored in this knowledge discipline, and providing valuable direction for future research.

Purpose This study aims to systematically examine 69 secondary studies to understand trends and implications in sustainability in higher education (SHE), addressing gaps in secondary studies, which often lack comprehensive thematic overviews that hinder future directions. Design/methodology/approach This tertiary study uses meticulous thematic coding to unveil overarching themes and future research directions across seven SHE areas: institutional frameworks, campus operations, education, research, outreach and collaborations, campus experiences and assessment and reporting. Findings The analysis reveals challenges higher education institutions (HEIs) face in integrating sustainability, highlighting the need for a holistic approach. Barriers such as awareness deficits and resistance to change emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary research. Emphasizing holistic integration and innovation is vital for seamlessly embedding sustainability within HEIs. Practical implications Key future research themes include holistic approaches to sustainability integration, leadership for sustainable change and innovative pedagogical approaches. Additionally, it is important to explore transdisciplinary approaches in sustainability research and the role of research centers and funding in addressing sustainability challenges. Originality/value This study provides a comprehensive overview of SHE, offering insights for researchers and practitioners, and serves as a resource for advancing sustainable educational practices.
