The present study aimed at describing the experimental and theoretical force-deformation curves of sunflower bulk oilseeds at varying initial pressing heights and vessel diameters as well as determining the theoretical pressure and energy along the screw press FL 200 pressing chambers. The design of efficient oil expression systems for industry and small-scale application remains a major challenge to engineers and researchers. In attempting to solve the problem, it is important to understand the linear compression process and to transfer the knowledge to the industry involving mechanical screw presses. The universal compression testing machine at a preset load of 200 kN and a speed of 5 mm·min −1 , tangent curve model and the screw press FL 200 geometry parameters were applied. The obtained results of pressure and energy along the screw pressing chambers (1-7) ranged from 0.31 to 101.653 MPa and 12.616 to 1231.228 J. Applying the tangent model at n = 1 and n = 2, the cumulative pressure decreased with increasing vessel diameters while energy increased. The study provides useful information for the analysis of other bulk oilseeds and optimizing the processing parameters of screw press FL 200 and the design and development of new oil presses. 116 geometry (m 2 ). The theoretical pressure and energy at the screw lamella positions (from 0-7) were 117 determined using Equations (8)-(11). Both the experimental and theoretical data were statistically 118 analyzed using MathCAD software, version 15 and STATISITCA, version 13 [41,42].

Expanding the use of renewable energy is a matter of concern in many countries. Many Japanese local municipalities are attempting to promote business creation using renewable energy as an opportunity for regional revitalization based on the policy of the Japanese government. Renewable energy makes significant contributions to the region in terms of energy security, stable energy supply, and job creation. However, the most important contribution is enhancing residents' attachment to their community and supporting actions that appeal to the community through renewable energy utilization. Residents should actively participate in regional revitalization, which leads to sustainable prosperity of the region. However, the current measures of local municipalities seem to be lacking such a viewpoint. This study aims to analyse the environmental and economic aspects as well as the social acceptance of establishing a bathing business that utilizes woody biomass as its heat source. This study also discussed how the generation of heat from woody biomass contributes to regional revitalization. The case study area was Kobe and Mt. Rokko, Japan. First, heat production and utilization was assumed for the forest resources in Mt. Rokko, and the annual biomass energy production potential was estimated. The annual costs of lumber cutting, transportation, and chipping, and the annual CO 2 reduction by substituting bunker A with woody biomass for heat production were also estimated. A questionnaire survey was conducted to determine community awareness of energy production using woody biomass from Mt. Rokko. Principal component analysis, contingent valuation method, and path analysis were used to quantify respondents' awareness.

Biomass has several benefits due to its novel behavior among energy sources. This study aims to characterize a unique form of biomass from two varieties of Matooke peel, namely, untreated Mbwazirume waste peel (UM-WP) and untreated Nakyinyika waste peel (UN-WP). The analysis of the characteristics of these biomasses was carried out using TGA, SEM, and EDXS. TG and DTG analysis showed an almost identical trend between UM-WP and UN-WP. The UM-WP exhibited a high VC 69.988 wt%, MC 13.125 wt%, O 48.02 wt%, and HHV 15.52 MJ-kg −1 with a low ash content 5.957 wt%, sulfur 0.64 wt%, and N 1.13 wt% compared to UN-WP. As compared to pretreated biomass, it was found that the smaller particle sizes had only minor intra-particle gradients and the bigger particle sizes had more of a linear pattern variation. The pyrolysis behavior obtained revealed three distinct regions at elevated temperatures related to the elimination of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. During carbonization, high fluidity and bubbles were produced due to the release of a large amount of volatile matter and forms porous structure which flowed through the fluid mass and produced a non-homogeneous vacuolated structure. These might cause the oxygen to easily disperse inside the particles during combustion. In addition, white spots were observed which are elements from different categories. The findings of this study indicate that UM-WP biomass could be an ideal material source for the production of biofuel and photovoltaic.
