Susceptible bacteria survive antibiotic treatment in the mammalian gastrointestinal tract without evolving resistance

Abstract: In vitro systems have provided great insight into the mechanisms of antibiotic resistance. Yet, in vitro approaches cannot reflect the full complexity of what transpires within a host.
