Survivin Clinical Features in Cervical Cancer

Abstract: Cervical cancer is the primary lethal malignancy for women worldwide, but because it develops over time, it would be one of the most preventable types of cancer. Dysregulation of apoptosis in cells plays a critical role in the malignancy development. Survivin is the smallest inhibitor apoptotic protein (IAP) which has an important part in regulating cell division and inhibitor of apoptosis. This review focused on survivin features in cervical cancer from mechanisms of malignancy relationship to human papilloma… Show more

“…The hypoxic microenvironment of tumor tissues is an influential trigger for tumor metastasis, which can induce tumor cells to release matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) and other enzymes to degrade the extracellular matrix, promote the occurrence of epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT), and release vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and other enzymes to promote angiogenesis, thus prompting tumor cells to enter the blood circulation and metastasize. Mitochondria are the major sites of intracellular oxygen consumption and play an important role in regulating the hypoxic microenvironment of tumor tissues. , Therefore, we further investigated whether the combination of KPT and TL has a synergistic effect in inhibiting tumor metastasis.…”

“…(18) To achieve optimal induction of apoptosis, specific markers and signaling pathway of the targeted cancer cell should be investigated. (19)(20)(21)(22)(23) Information of targeted cancer genetics and epigenetics will provide a better approach and risk assessment. ( 24) Due to angiogenesis, signaling pathways in angiogenesis as well as endothelial generation were also taken placed.…”

“…Dysregulation of apoptosis in cells plays an important role in the development of malignancies. (18) To initiate apoptosis, it is necessary to activate Caspase-3 (19,20), which plays a role in the destruction of many functional and structural proteins in cells (21,22). In this regard, therapeutic targeting of apoptosis is considered as an important strategy for developing anti-tumor agents, because cancer has the ability of cell proliferation and inhibition of apoptosis.…”
