In this paper, we develop attribute control charts (CCs) using two life data distributions named as Transmuted Power function distribution (TPFD) and Survival Weighted Power function distribution (SWPFD) under a time truncated life test (TTLT). The evaluation of the presented charts is based on the average run length and presented these evaluations in form of tables. The comparative study has been done for the suggested CCs in detail based on the criteria of average run length. We take up a real-life situation assuming that the lifespan of the items under study follows the TPFD and SWPFD to assess the competence of the proposed idea. A simulation study is given to support our idea that the CCs based on SWPFD performs better as compare to control chart based on TPFD for monitoring of non-conforming items.

In statistical modeling, lifetime datasets play an important and significant role. Weighted distributions can be useful to attain the essential purposes relating to the developed distributions’ flexibility and to improve further compliances in data forming; they provide the extension of distributions. The current study suggests a new best-fit probability distribution model based on Pareto distribution. The new model is called Survival Weighted Pareto (SWP) distribution model. Furthermore, the statistical expressions for different properties, which include moments, inverse moments, quantile function, and order statistics, are reported. Moreover, to check the performance and the behavior of different estimators using different sample sizes, a simulation study, which is based on SWP distribution, is performed. According to the simulation results, it is established that the proposed model is a most useful fitted probability model. In addition, an application of the SWP model for three datasets is provided to check the goodness of fit measures of the model.

<abstract><p>The COVID-19 epidemic has had a profound effect on almost every aspect of daily life, including the financial sector, education, transportation, health care, and so on. Among these sectors, the financial and health sectors are the most affected areas by COVID-19. Modeling and predicting the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the financial and health care sectors is particularly important these days. Therefore, this paper has two aims, (i) to introduce a new probability distribution for modeling the financial data set (oil prices data), and (ii) to implement a machine learning approach to predict the oil prices. First, we introduce a new approach for developing new probability distributions for the univariate analysis of the oil price data. The proposed approach is called a new reduced exponential-$ X $ (NRE-$ X $) family. Based on this approach, two new statistical distributions are introduced for modeling the oil price data and its log returns. Based on certain statistical tools, we observe that the proposed probability distributions are the best competitors for modeling the prices' data sets. Second, we carry out a multivariate analysis while considering some covariates of oil price data. Dual well-known machine learning algorithms, namely, the least absolute shrinkage and absolute deviation (Lasso) and Elastic net (Enet) are utilized to achieve the important features for oil prices based on the best model. The best model is established through forecasting performance.</p></abstract>
