Survival Estimation, Prognostic Factors Evaluation, and Prognostic Prediction Nomogram Construction of Breast Cancer Patients with Bone Metastasis in the Department of Bone and Soft Tissue Tumor: A Single Center Experience of 8 Years in Tianjin, China

Abstract: Purpose. Bone metastasis in breast cancer remains globally concerned. Accurate survival estimation would be beneficial for clinical decision-making, especially for the patients with potential indications of surgery. Based on a retrospective cohort from China, the study aimed to construct a prognostic prediction nomogram for breast cancer patients with bone metastasis. Methods. Breast cancer patients with bone metastasis diagnosed between 2009 and 2017 in our department were retrospectively selected. The total … Show more

“…There were signi cant differences of median survival between patients with or without visceral metastasis [36]. In the current study, visceral metastasis was retrospectively analyzed and there was a 1.48-fold increased risk of death for patients with visceral metastasis, which was consistent with previous studies [35][36][37][38]. Besides, the total cohort bene ted on survival from the performance of chemotherapy with a 0.7-fold increased risk of death in our study.…”

“…However, we also unexpectedly observed the high expression of OCRL was associated with in PR positive status and ER positive status. The PR positive status, and ER positive status often were considered the protective factor for BC patients and were bene cial for therapy [28,29]. Generally speaking, OCRL had exhibited oncogenic effects on the occurrence of BC, but showed the weak association with the progression and metastasis.…”

“…To address these challenges, some studies have begun to explore the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to assist in predicting breast cancer metastasis (10)(11)(12)(13)(14)(15). This AI-based approach holds promise for providing faster and more accurate diagnoses, while potentially reducing the need for expensive imaging studies, thereby alleviating the economic burden on patients.…”
