Survival-based bioinformatics analysis to identify hub long non-coding RNAs along with lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA network for potential diagnosis/prognosis of thyroid cancer

Abstract: Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most common endocrine cancer, accounting for 1.7% of all cancer cases. It has been reported that the existing approach to diagnosing TC is problematic. Therefore, it is essential to develop molecular biomarkers to improve the accuracy of the diagnosis. This study aimed to screen hub lncRNAs in the ceRNA network (ceRNET) connected to TC formation and progression based on the overall survival rate. In this study, first, RNA‐seq data from the GDC database were collected. A package calle… Show more

“…A study by Mácsai and team examined the relationship between skin tissue SAF (measured with an AGEs Reader) and the presence of glucuronic acid, 3-indole sulfate, 3-hydroxybutyric acid, phenol sulfate, and pentosyranoside using desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (DESI-MS) (41). It has been clearly demonstrated in many reports that these compounds are connected to diabetes and its complications, so they could be used to detect diabetes and its complications (42)(43)(44).…”

“…Despite this organization should provide a certain redundancy able to confer robustness to mutations, it also allows a single alteration to hit multiple metabolic pathways at the same time, hence, the importance to identify and characterize ceRNET. These networks have been partially reported in neurodegenerative diseases [56,57] and in a few cancers such as lung adenocarcinoma [58], intrahepatic cholangiocellular carcinoma [59], hepatocellular carcinoma [60], glioma [61], thyroid cancer [62], and breast cancer [63,64]. However, for most cancer types, only single axes have been published so far.…”

“…Dysregulated genes or cellular mechanisms play a significant role in cancer development, particularly oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes [ 6 ]. Several “tumor suppressor genes" are activated and deactivated to regulate cancer initiation and progression [ 6 , 7 ]. As well as genetic mutation, chromosomal abrasion or alteration, such as addition or deletion, and changes to the cell cycle are important factors contributing to variation in established genetic mechanisms [ 8 ].…”
