Surveying model based testing approaches characterization attributes

Abstract: In this paper, we describe the planning, execution, and initial results analysis of a survey accomplished with Model Based Testing researchers and practitioners. This survey has two purposes: observing (1) which attributes could be adequate to characterize Model-based Testing Approaches and (2) what is the relevance of them when selecting MBT approaches for software projects. An initial list of attributes with their relevance has been identified. These results compose a body of knowledge regarding Model-based … Show more

“…Dias‐Neto et al also performed an e‐mail survey of 34 MBT researchers, asking them to rank 18 MBT‐related attributes, to determine which are the most important attributes when classifying or selecting MBT approaches 69. The highest‐ranked attribute was the kind of model used, which is the first top‐level dimension of the taxonomy in this paper, and the next two highest attributes were the test generation criteria and coverage, which correspond to the Test Selection Criteria dimension of the taxonomy.…”

Assim,…”

“…The mathematical formula used to define the subject's weight was based on the proposal of a survey [29], and it has been adapted for this study. The formula to define subject's weight is:  q(i) is the total number (estimated) of organizations that subject has supported in the implementation of SPI initiatives;…”
