Scientific literacy is a capability to identify problems, analyze questions, and create solutions by applying scientific knowledge and integrating science with technology and society. This literacy needs to be improved so that students can develop their skills in identifying science phenomenon and addressing various solutions. Although the learning was conducted in distance since the current situation is still amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the literacy can be taught during the learning process. This study aims to improve studentsâ€™ scientific literacy through distance learning with augmented reality-based multimedia amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The research included in a descriptive quantitative study with pre-test and post-test design. The distance learning was conducted in the lecture of anatomy and physiology of organism during even semester in May 2020, with 111 students from three classes in the 2018 academic year. The science content provided in online learning was supported by augmented-reality based multimedia on the topic of the human respiratory system. This multimedia was evaluated, also stated as valid and appropriate to be implemented in the learning process. Scientific literacy was measured using the online test form. The findings indicated that the studentsâ€™ scientific literacy improved moderately both in class A and B, but low in class C. The improvement of scientific literacy in class A reached N-gain average score of 0.31, class B reached 0.38, and class C reached 0.22. Students also gave a positive response, showed by the percentages of studentsâ€™ response at 89.1% in class A, 87.0% in class B, and 84.8% in class C, which was in the very strong category. Therefore, it can be concluded that studentsâ€™ scientific literacy improved well through distance learning with augmented reality-based multimedia amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has redefined how we carry out our daily activities with emphasis on safety measures like social distancing, the use of face masks and proper hygiene. With nursing personnel at the forefront of combating the menace created by this pandemic, the use of ICT has remained a vital technology that must be embraced by all in order to carry out a safe nursing practice. Therefore, becoming ICT compliant is no more an option to stay relevant and alive during this COVID era. This data article presents the outcome of a survey carried out among Moroccan nursing students. This was done with a view to assess their readiness and willingness to accept and use ICT as well as social media for learning and discharging their duties during and after this COVID era. Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model was adopted to structure the questionnaire items used in this survey. This was then administered to Moroccan nursing students via online Google forms. Seven hundred and two (702) respondents completed the questionnaire. After data screening and cleaning, normality assessment of the data was carried out in terms of skewness and kurtosis. Afterwards, Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to establish the statistical significance of the data in terms of the reflective indicator loadings, internal consistency reliability and convergence. This dataset includes the questionnaire used (in English and French), the responses obtained in spreadsheet format, the charts generated from the responses received, the SPSS file and the statistical analysis file. This dataset will help policy makers understand how nursing students use ICT and social media platforms and how these could be adopted as a more secure means of learning and discharging their during the COVID-19 era and beyond.

The article deals with transitivity processes in the field of higher medical education. Several trends related to transitivity processes are highlighted: the high demand for medical education with a shortage of qualified specialists; the continuing medical education and the introduction of an accreditation exam; the introduction of distance technologies, simulation and e-learning; specialist mobility. Thus, the educational process in the context of transitivity processes in the field of medical education should be focused on the formation of self-improvement skills, self-education. The article describes the functions of the students’ independent work in a medical university and the conditions that increase the effectiveness of the educational process. The article defines the role of the organization of student’s independent work in the development of self-education and self-improvement skills. The student’s independent work is considered as one of the forms that allow students to develop self-education and self-improvement skills, taking into account their abilities. The independent work as a form of self-improvement is aimed at developing the skills of independent search and choice of problem solutions; developing the skills of information analysis when working with a large volume of educational material; provides the development of critical thinking skills; stimulating the skills of evaluative and reflexive activity in the context of dynamic changes in the professional sphere.
