Surrounding Factors’ Influence on the Accuracy of the Digital Level and Total Station

Abstract: The digital level (SOKKIA SDL-30) and total station (SOKKIA CX-105) are highlighted as examples of digital surveying instruments. In this study, it is clarified how some surrounding factors can affect their efficiency such as vibration, sunlight, and its direction, temperature, and battery capacity. Through vibration testing as one of these factors ,both the digital level and the total station using the reflector-less were exposed to vibration up to 25 KHZ/Sec, the average and the standard deviations elevation… Show more

“…The tilt angle α is the angle between the normal line of the horizontal plane and the normal line of the surface. So, when calculating the projection, the corresponding projection angle can be expressed as follows: cosθ = cosβcosγsinα + sinβcosα (10) Especially, when the surface is a vertical plane:…”

“…This method offers the advantage of flexibility and safety, as it does not require contact measurements. However, it is vulnerable to environmental interferences like rain, snow, and low light conditions at night [10,11]. In order to overcome these limitations, researchers have utilized the hydrostatic leveling system (HLS) technique.…”

“…Fadli et al, (2016,) and Fadli and Alsaeed, (2019) described BIM-based capture 3D techniques and analyzed benefits and challenges using an extensive SWOT analysis Fadli et al, (2016) and Fadli and Alsaeed, (2019). Al-Qabas et al, (2020) described the accuracy of the information captured that depend on surrounding factors during the process. Qammaz and Al Maian, (2020) stated that competence to deliver is a critical success factor towards the construction industry.…”

“…This emphasizes the importance of prioritizing GS monitoring for large scale infrastructures. Currently, remote sensing methods, such as the use of Total Station, are commonly employed for GS monitoring, but they are susceptible to environmental interference and are labor-intensive [ 5 ]. Until now, there has been a lack of practical online GS monitoring techniques.…”
