“…Meta-analyses on biceps tenodesis generally show that arthroscopic intra-articular tenodesis results in a high incidence of bicipital groove pain. 12 This may be explained by the inflammation and biceps degeneration associated with intra-articular tenodesis, which can extend extra-articular to the bicipital groove and below. Therefore, if tenodesis is performed proximal to the inflammation site, the inflammation can spread to the bicipital groove, resulting in bicipital groove pain.…”

“…Cutting the LHBT as medial as possible allowed us to keep at minimum the length of the proximal tendon stump, which may potentially impinge inside the joint. In addition, we avoided the distal approach tested by Greditzer et al [ 20 ] to decrease the risk of damage to the crossing fibers of the subscapularis tendon and to the recurrent branch of the circumflex artery of the humerus.…”

“…For this reason, arthroscopically guided LHBT tenotomy or tenodesis are commonly practiced in cases where spontaneous rupture does not occur, besides often being part of arthroscopic repair of RC tendons [ 15 , 16 ]. These two surgical options for LHBT pathology have shown similar clinical outcomes [ 2 , 17 ], although tenotomy seems to provide earlier pain relief, despite at higher risk of cosmetic deformity due to prominent bump of the muscle belly (Popeye sign), while tenodesis tends to result in superior functional outcomes [ 18 , 19 , 20 ]. The tenotomy is indicated in painful shoulders with ruptured RC tendons in which conservative treatments (rest, rehabilitation, oral anti-inflammatory drugs, steroid injections) have failed, in patients with irreparable injuries and in those not willing to undergo surgery, since a non-negligible number of patients do not wish to undergo shoulder arthroscopic surgery due to their concern for negative outcomes [ 1 , 21 ].…”

“…Hence, the range of motion of the shoulder joint was limited and subsequently affected the quality of people's daily life [2]. Conventional treatment of western medicine and surgical intervention on tenosynovitis of LHB brachii significantly relieved the symptoms and improved the people's life quality [28][29][30]. However, adverse events and side effects caused by the abovementioned treatments may affect the therapeutic effects.…”

“…It may be caused by overuse from athletics requiring the overhead motion or degeneration from the normal aging process [ 1 , 2 ]. However, tendinopathy of the LHB brachii encompasses a broad spectrum of pathology ranging from mild tendinopathy to rupture, which includes the inflammatory, degenerative, overuse-related, and traumatic causes [ 3 , 4 ]. Similar to other types of biceps tendinopathy, patients with tenosynovitis of LHB brachii have a deep, throbbing ache in the anterior shoulder.…”
