Surgical Alternative for Repair of Bilateral Macrostomia

Abstract: The transverse or lateral cleft is the second most common type of craniofacial cleft. The authors report a case of bilateral macrostomia in a male newborn and the authors present a refined method of Kaplan technique for correcting macrostomia. The authors' method is characterized by the creation of a single Z-plasty with the transposed central limb placed in the nasogenian crease.
