“…Finally, the waters of the surface canals (C) show values attributable to sub-modern waters but with slightly higher values of 3 H (between 4 and 5 TU), probably relating to a possible mixing with modern waters due to their presence on the surface and direct contact with the atmosphere, as described in Mahlangu et al ( 2020 ) and Malov ( 2021 ).…”

“…The knowledge of the isotopic composition (δ 2 H, δ 18 O, and 3 H) in surface and groundwater in relation to the isotopic composition of the precipitations allows us to determine the average residence time of the water in the aquifers (Campbell et al, 2021 ; Krajcar Bronić & Barešić, 2021 ), the possible interconnections between different aquifers (Andries et al, 2021 ; Mahlangu et al, 2020 ), the origin of waters (Andries et al, 2021 ; Catalano et al, 2014 ), and the dynamics of processes in surface waters (Ramaroson et al, 2018 ; Schmidt et al, 2020 ). In addition, although the 3 H concentration in the atmosphere in recent years has reached values in line with the environmental threshold, thanks to the electrolytic enrichment methodologies it is possible to determine the low concentrations of 3 H using the liquid scintillation counting technique (Belachew et al, 2018 ; Lin et al, 2020 ).…”

“…water circulation system [29][30]. By studying the natural meteoric waters from many parts of the word, there is a linear relationship between stable isotopes of δD and δ 18 O defined by Craig in 1961, which is expressed as δD = 8δ 18 O + 10 and referred to as the Global Meteoric Water Line (GMWL) [31].…”

“…The Huixian wetland is in the karst core area of East Asia, representing one of three major karst distribution areas globally. The study area is −21 km southwest of the Guilin urban area with geographic coordinates of 25 • 04 58"-25 • 08 25" north latitude and 110 • 09 23"-110 • 14 36" east longitude [24][25][26][27]. The Huixian wetland has a mid-subtropical monsoon climate and falls in the central zone of subtropical peak forest landforms in China.…”
